Registration for the 2008 Season is now open!

March 2, 2008 · Comments Off

Hello and welcome to the 2008 season of the Westfield Area CSA!

Recently I feel like I’ve been hibernating. If I didn’t have kids to tow all over the place I might not leave my house. I don’t feel like eating my veggies anymore because they are usually bland, tired from their long airplane ride from California, and usually one of the same 3 or 4 varieties the supermarket prominently carries.

But our farmer, John Kreuger has not been hibernating. He took a rejuvenating vacation in Central America visiting friends. Then he came home and started planning all over again. He’s been very busy. He’s looking into leasing more land. He’s trying to hire at least one more worker and have an intern. He’s buying a box truck and a van to help keep his transportation dependable. He’d like to increase his overall membership by about 100 and he’s almost sure he will have a new site in Staten Island. I feel really proud when I hear news like this. By being a part of this CSA we are keeping a small farmer in business, keeping land undeveloped AND keeping toxic chemicals off the land by supporting organic farming. And all we have to do is eat our veggies!

The 2008 season will be 22 weeks and cost $520. John should be able to finish the 22 week season by the end of October, and since Thanksgiving is late this year there will still be time for an extended season for those who desire it.

Registration is still open if you are interested in joining for the 2008 season. If you have any questions or would like to register for the 2008 season, please feel free to contact Danielle Levitt. You can also download the registration flyer.
